CHARLES “CHAZ” MASON

Systems Engineering Fellow

Charles “Chaz” Mason is a Systems Engineering Fellow for Assured Consulting Services.  Drawing on decades of experience delivering geospatial technical solutions to his DoD and IC clients, he advances ACS’s strategic goals delivering customer solutions and enhancing engineering practices that drive business growth.

A retired Navy Senior Chief, Chaz’s 26-year naval career was characterized by impactful technical leadership positions at commands to include the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV), COMUSNAVCENT, JSOC, and NAVWAR. Chaz has worked broadly across the military industrial base, where his deep knowledge of geospatial intelligence and cloud computing quickly made him a sought‑after leader. He directed the integration of high‑performance compute‑as‑a‑service (HPCaaS) into the NGA enterprise in under 90 days and spearheaded the first ML‑Ops pilot that delivered a security‑accredited computer‑vision workflow, later adopted as a program of record. Subsequent roles saw him manage the “Next NGA West” design series, expand NGA’s capabilities for international partners, and forge partnerships that supplied cleared talent to critical missions.

Mason’s academic credentials parallel his technical expertise. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from National Louis University, and an MBA (cum laude) from George Mason University, complemented by a professional GIS certification from the same institution. He has amassed a suite of industry certifications including SAFe Agilist, Certified Scrum Master, ICP‑Agile Professional, and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Beyond his professional life, Mason resides in St. Louis with his husband, Kevin, and their two dogs,  En Sabah Nur (Sabi) and Essex. Their daughter, Fiona, is entering her senior year at Syracuse University. An advocate of spontaneity and personal growth, Mason once learned to fly trapeze —literally joining the circus for a time—a testament to his willingness to embrace new challenges both on and off the field.
